I have had this product for about a month or so and so far I am completely satisfied. I especially like the feature that shows how long it will take to toast. This is very convenient when cooking something that will go with the toast, such as eggs.

The only complaint that I have is that the broiler pan that is supplied is the only one that will fit, which means I can't use any that I already have. This is a very minor thing, it just means that I may have to wash the broiler pan by hand if I need it. Primitive but doable!

The toaster oven perfoms pretty well as advertised.

The 3 items that detract from it's getting a 5 star rating from me are as follows:

Crumb tray slides out of the BACK of the toaster oven, that seems like a big drawback to me, requiring moving the unit out etc to get to the crumb tray, possibly hard to do if unit is kept on small shelf or counter.

Wire toasting rack has the front to back wires welded under the perimeter of it's frame, thus preventing you from sliding the finished toast of the front of the rack, in other words, the toast bumps up against the larger wire frame of the rack, this could have been designed differently with the front to back wires welded to the top of the wire frame. Makes removing toast harder possibly requiring a set of tongs?

Toast light/dark selection seems to be adjusted to the light side, in other words even at the highest setting (7) our toast is just done, not very dark, we are using whole wheat bread so maybe WONDER bread would get dark at setting (7) but I just wish it would cook a little longer.

I bought 1 Cuisinart toaster oven from Costco. It was the big brother to the TOB-155 model. It worked OK, but the broiler pan warped so bad when it got hot that it pushed the chicken breast into the heating element and burned it. I called Cuisinart and of course, "it's never done that before". So, I took it back and hunted some more and read all the reviews and no one mentioned the warping broiler pan. So I took a chance on this model from Amazon. I noticed the instructions said to put water in the broiler pan. It didn't say that in the instructions from the first model. Anyway, the pan does not warp as bad with the water in it. Other than that it works well. I've been using it for about 4 months and I have used most all the features. I'm satisfied with this model. I hope it lasts for awhile.

I have had this toaster oven for about a year and a half but we were about to move so I have only used it for six months. I really could not imagine any problems given the Cuisinart name and threw away the box and receipt. Lesson learned! Within two months of use the door hinge started having problems and now we are having problems with burning in bake mode. I don't use the toaster setting very often, I was hopeful that maybe we would get some use out of that setting, but reading the other reviews here it doesn't look too promising!

Within a few months, the door wouldn't close all the way so obviously the toaster would not achieve the proper temperature inside. The handle developed a crack and has now broken into 3 pieces. Very disappointed. Expected more from a Cuisinart product. Even in the beginning before these problem began, I was disappointed with the toasting capabilities. Very uneven.

This was the most stylish oven in the stores and I was so glad to get a color (white 50C model) rather than the stainless or chrome that all ovens seem to come in. The quality seems top notch for a reasonable price. My gripe is that for toasting the top of the bread is always nearly burned even at the lightest setting. If I observe the heating elements I can see the top comes on much stronger than the bottom. While we can flip the tray over and move the bread lower this is not an excellent configuration. That requires sliding the bread over the wire edge to remove it which isn't very handy. I will probably keep it because I love the style but I can see broiling will be its chief function for our kitchen.

This toaster oven gives us good toast, still not as good as a separate toaster but much better than we got with previous brands. The price was okay but the one big problem is that the crumb drawer must be removed from the back for cleaning. It would have been great to have front access so we don't have to disconnect it and move it around to clean up the droppings. It looks good with the stainless finish and I have had good comments from others about the way it blends with the other appliances.

After our most recent move, we needed to replace our toaster oven yet again. What I was really hoping to find was something like the original Black and Decker one we had several years ago, but they don't seem to make them like they did once upon a time. Apparently, cheap, good toaster ovens aren't made by manufacturers anymore. The more recent Black and Decker we had owned was awful, so I can't say I was unhappy it didn't make the move with us. And I certainly wasn't going to buy it again!

I spent awhile looking over toaster oven reviews, which pretty much just reinforced my idea that there are no longer any below $60-$70 that get mostly good reviews. And some of the horror stories made me want to stay far, far away from some of those toaster ovens! So I decided I'd look at something that cost more, not necessarily wanting to pay more, but wanting a toaster oven that toasted and baked well again. And I have to say, this one has lived up to the good reviews!

This is the best toaster oven I have owned since our old Black and Decker one. It toasts really well, it bakes really well, and I like the fact that I can toast six things at once in it. With four kids in the house, that's really useful. It is (obviously) larger than the old Black and Decker one, but I'm okay with that given how well it works. However, the large size of this could be an issue for some. I also like the buttons for setting it on it - it makes for more precise toasting and temperature.

The main issue I have with it, though this wasn't really enough for me to want to take a star away, was that there's a metal piece underneath the handle that can get *really* hot at times, and you have to be careful not to touch it when opening it. It's really not too hard to avoid doing so, but it is something that's worth mentioning as I almost burned myself on it once. The timer is also a bit loud, but this isn't really a major issue for me. I could see it being one for someone whose kitchen is really close to the bedrooms in their house, though.

All in all, I would most definitely recommend this toaster oven. I could wish it was cheaper, but it's worth paying the extra money for. With this one, I shouldn't have to replace my toaster oven for quite awhile!

When our 30 year old toaster oven died, we started reading industry and consumer reviews of toaster ovens and decided on this model. We've had it about a month and so far it toasts bread and bagels perfectly, and has baked a 12" pizza as well as fish fillets in less time than required in our stove oven. The baking pan is very easy to clean and removing the crumb tray is far more convenient than it was with our old model. We haven't tried the broiler function yet. Our only complaint so far is that the manual isn't very helpful with directions. We've figured out how to perform the different operations but it would have been nice to have had the steps clearly listed.

This toaster oven worked OK for 4 years.....now the only way to make toast is to use the broiler function....which can be dangerous as it doesnt switch off automatically like the toaster function! Result can be a lot of burnt offerings and/or a fire. The toaster will not work but flashes off........after its used in the broiler mode and heated up then the toaster will work if one uses the broiler for over 4 minutes - by which time one has already toasted ones toast!

There is obviously some kind of issue with the toaster timer funtion......Cuisinart say that there is no way to fix the problem. Cuisinart has (HAD) a good name but this product is made in China so I cannot see how its really any different from any other Chinese junk. One just pays a lot more for the "Cuisinart" so-called-quality "brand".

Just how much longer will Cuisinart be a quality brand I wonder?

"Great Little Oven with Big Problems" 2010-02-17

Our first oven lasted a little over two years. Similar to many other reviews, there was some sort of electrical defect with the product, so when we turned the knob to 'Bake', you could hear a little sizzle -- to the point where the Bake option no longer worked. Since we were still under Cuisinart's 3 year warranty, our unit was replaced for a brand new unit. We still had to pay for shipping, but it was worth the $20 vs. buying what was a $100 unit at the time. What was disappointing was that our second unit had the same exact problem, after the same amount of time. We were no longer covered under the warranty (the replacement falls under the original warranty) so we just bought a new toaster oven. I was convinced I would not go with another Cuisinart (I was a bit disappointed that Customer Service would not work with me to get a replacement given the defect), but the honest truth is that we have not found another toaster oven that works as well as a Cuisinart, and still falls within a reasonable price range. Simply stated - when the 30BW worked, it worked well. We treated it like a mini oven and used it almost daily.

In our search for a new toaster oven, we purchased and returned two others -- a Black and Decker and a Bella. The B&D oven was just flimsy. The oven door didn't close properly and the crumb tray was loose on every model we saw -- just a sloppy design. I cannot comment on how it cooked, but just the lopsided look was enough for us to bring it back. The Bella was just an overall disappointment -- it didn't cook properly at all. It never seemed to get hot enough and the Bake option only cooked from the bottom so you could never get that crisp/baked topping. We just purchased a Cuisinart TOB-155, and while it's only been put to use one time, it cooked exactly the way I needed it to -- very similar to the 30BW. But for the electrical defect (a very serious defect, but unlike other reviews, we never had an issue with the unit not turning off) we would have kept the 30BW for years. Would I recommend this 30BW model to others -- probably not -- but I would still recommend the Cuisinart brand. Plus, our new Cuisinart still comes with a three year warranty.

When I spend close to $100.00 for a toaster over I expect it to last at least a few years. Not this one. I used it occasionally to reheat chicken or on a rare occasion a piece of toast. I have not used it 25 times in the 10 months I have had it and the top element just stopped working. The bottom still comes on but not hot enough to work properly. I had my old Black & Decker for 10 years and only had to replact it because I broke it accidently. I will never buy another Cuisinart. You are paying for a name but not for a quality product. Buyer Beware.

"Poor construction / poor reliability" 2010-02-03

We have had this unit for approximately 4 years. It functioned well for about 1 year. We noticed the toaster setting seemed to progressively toast darker and darker. We consequently have adjusted the desired setting lighter and lighter. Now, we are at the lightest setting and still it is almost too dark. Additionally, I believe the toasting setting relies on reaching a certain internal temperature and then stops the cycle. We have noticed that after one item is toasted, the subsequent item will not toast adequately on one or even 2 cycles. The toaster shuts off too quickly. You must toast it minimum 3 times.

Lastly, and most disappointingly, the included pan rusts!!! We had noticed this ~ 9 months into ownership. It started as one small area and was not a big deal. Now however, the rust is most everywhere on the pan itself. Poor alloy, poor us. Our ownership experience has left a lot to be desired. This likely will be our last Cuisinart product.

This is my second Cuisinart toaster oven. The first, with digital controls, cost twice as much and is five times as good.

This unit routinely burns the edges of toast before the middle is done. Furthermore, the darkness control puts all the usable range of darknesses into a QUARTER INCH of dial movement -- and you have to reset it every time you make toast. Good luck with that.

I am so very disappointed that this normally awesome brand is pasted onto this badly made product. I regret the waste of my money -- and the burnt toast.

I bought it for Christmas 2009 so it should be the latest model. Same issue, crummy toaster (yes, I read the directions carefully) many others have complained about plus a new one. When the timer went off the heating element did not, I didn't notice the red light was still on, so I left. Came back home a few hours later and the whole kitchen was hot from that oven on full blast. I thought it was a fluke, but it did it again. Cuisinart said to return it to the store. I did. I got the TOB-190 for $40 more, hope that works out, it has the electronic timer.

After less than 2 months the door started closing only after two or three attempts ... the frequency of successful door closures has now reduced to zero . . bottom line don't wast your money on this one ..... tis a throw away

This is the third Cuisinart TOB-50 oven I have had. On two of them the handles broke on both of them. Of course I couldn't use them if I couldn't open the oven door. I did use one for about 6 months but fussed and cussed it because I couldn't close the door. I finally closed it so hard the plastic handle broke. But with the new one I have just purchased, the design must have been changed because there is a different kind of handle on it. I am 83 years old and hope this one will last me. I love the compactness of the oven as well as the toaster function. I can put my piece of toast in the oven and by the time it 's done, my coffee is ready. Such coordination!! I absolutely love having this oven in my kitchen. I'll never try another brand.

"Can I get one that works, please?!" 2010-07-20

I bought one of these from Amazon.com and foolishly threw away the box before using the oven, so I couldn't return it to Amazon.com ( It was Cuisinart, right? And it gets all these good reviews here at the Amazon.com site! )

Then I try the oven with a simple task of making some chicken nuggets. They came out cold! Why? Well the oven was set to 375 degrees, but it beeped to say it was up to temperature, but the real temperature in there was only 150 at the time! I verified this with an oven thermometer. But it was a meat thermometer so I bought another more precise oven temperature thermometer from ( yes ) Amazon.com and verified this. Then the oven took another 10-15 minutes after that feat, to actually reach stable temperature ( where it regulates ) , BUT it was 50 degrees below what I had it set for! So I had to find a box to pack it in and get a return authorization from Cuisinart and send it back. Fortunately I saved my old toaster over, which wasn't working so well anymore, but at least still worked. Oh, and this oven's serial number wasn't showing up in their database. What is THAT?

They got the over returned and then shipped me out a new one. So I get the new one and figure, well it's gotta work this time, right? So I toss the box out in the trash that night.

WRONG. This one does exactly the same thing! It tells me it's up to the set temperature after about 2 minutes but is really under 200 degrees when I set it to 400. Then I gotta wait for it to stabilize to regulating temperature, and that final temp is 25-50 degrees below what the oven thermometer says!

So I wanted to be fair and went and bough another oven thermometer to verify this ( from Amazon.com ) and this time made sure it says it's a super accurate one and all that. Same thing.

So now I have to get a shipping box and ship this second one back again. At least this time Cuisinart has offered to pay shipping, BUT I tossed my old toaster oven out this last time, thinking the second Cuisinart one HAD to work, right? So now I'll be without one.

Cuisinart is also looking into whether this could have anything to do with the altitude ( we're in Denver ) but who knows?

I'm so sick of this and would not recommend this to ANYONE now!

DO NOT BUY THIS OVEN!

I ordered this toaster oven after my $50 GE broke after about 2 years. I wanted a high quality toaster oven that will last and do it's job. I have had the Cuisinart for about 3 weeks now and am, for the most part, very pleased. The packaging was very extensive and protective. The manual is helpful and easy to understand, although slightly more extensive than I had expected. I didn't intend on spending 20-30 minutes reading a toaster oven manual, but that's not a big deal. I don't typically use the oven for extensive cooking, such as roasts, chickens, etc. More so for toast, bagels, biscuits, frozen pizza and reheating left overs. For those things, this product works well. I have only cooked one pizza, but it came out perfect and cooked in about 8 minutes (thin crust).

The downfalls, which for the most part I was aware of prior to purchasing the procut (thanks to great Amazon reviews) are: 1) The crumb tray has to be emptied from the back. 2) It's rather dark inside the oven since it's deep, which makes it tough to see while cooking. I find myself opening the oven and sliding the tray halfway out to see how much longer I should leave the food in. A light inside would be nice. I'm not sure if that's offered on higher end models. 3) A backlight on the display would be nice.

Not really a downfall, but since there are a lot of settings/options, you will need to experiment to find out what works for the tyep of food you are cooking and your liking. During this learning process I often find myself under-toasting/cooking which means the oven will turn off and I have to reset it and turn it back on. As time passes, this has become more of a null issue.

Overall I am pleased with the product. It feels and looks solid, cooks well, doesn't take up too much space and looks nice on my counter. We will see if it stands the test of time. I would give it 4.5 stars if that was an option.

This oven was exactly what I was looking for and more. It's quality built and I expect it to last for years. Toasting is easy and done well - it even tells you how much time is left in the cycle. I have also baked pizza in it and it was fine! Saved having to heat up the oven on my range!
