We have found recently that the average lifespan of a toaster oven is about 2 years. Our last one not only lasted barely two years, but it took a rocket scientist to understand and explain the various settings. We have now had our Cuisinart for about a month and at least for starters it is effortless to understand the settings. At one month of age, it is working very well and we are hopeful that it will continue!

Our old toaster oven was just gross after years of abuse, so we bought this Cuisinart. It is very attractive, solid, and works like a charm. Our last one was top rated when we bought it (Sears I think), but the technology has definitely changed, as this Cuisinart offers much more flexibility in its settings, heats more evenly, and works faster.

We use it mainly for re-heating or cooking small frozen items for the kids, but I suspect you could easily cook a meal in this unit and be happy; as long as you aren't trying to feed too many.

Toaster ovens are a great kitchen accessory that get a lot of use in our house, and we are thrilled with this one.

The unit worked OK for the first year. Toast is NOT it's strong suit as toasting is very uneven and the top toasting pattern seldom looks like the bottom. After about 8 months I had trouble getting the door to close completely, very annoying. Then about a month ago it lost all ability to control the degree of heat. No matter what setting it is on the unit defaults to FULL BLAST. First noticed when my smoke alarm went off after a bagel was incinerated beyond recognition!

Currently resides in my trash can......

This toaster oven works just fine. It's a good size and does not take up too much counter space. If it was just a little larger in height and had a timer, it would get 5 stars. The timer would certainly come in handy, but it's not an essential. One thing: I had to send the first one back because of a slight defect on the control panel (the label was partially missing for the Function knob.) Amazon sent me a new one right away. I believe the slight defect was overlooked by the manufacturer, and NOT caused by Amazon's packing and shipping, but I couldn't find a matching reason to explain this when I used Amazon's online return. The second toaster was packed even more thoroughly than the first, but again, I don't think the issue was with Amazon's packing, which was quite adequate. They made it right, right away.

We purchased this toaster oven to use during our complete kitchen remodel. The laundry room was the make do kitchen area for longer than I would like to remember. To make life seem as normal as possible during this process I used this product almost daily from morning toast to even broiled chicken. This little oven will bake cookies, toast various items, and generally work exactly as it should. My only complaint is with the buttons. Who ever heard of a toaster requiring you to hit more than one button to start toasting? Even odder, there's a timer but you can't use it just to time something else in the kitchen. I only works when you use the oven. Still, these are minor and this device works much better than others we have had before.

I love my Cuisinart Toaster Oven. It works perfectly. It looks nice. It's pretty easy to keep clean. It's big enough to accommodate an "Amy's No Cheese Pizza". One thing you ought to know is that it doesn't automatically shut off. The timer is just a timer. You have to turn off the oven when cooking is complete.

Have had this for about 9 months now. It works great, has several options to cook just the way you want.

Holds 4 slices of bread no problem, its not wide enough to do 6 without some overlap.

My only complaint is that if I set the timer when baking something, the temp does not turn off when the timer ends. So if you dont hear the timer and turn it off then it will continue to cook. I suppose my full size kitchen oven does the same thing...so not a big deal, just cant set it and forget it.

Don't know if this model is still available, but I agree with other posters that this is a superior product. I hated our old DeLonghi and find this superior in every way. It's an excellent small oven - I do a lot of sear-roasting and this is much better than heating up a 4 cu.ft. range oven on a hot day, for two small steaks!

Biggest disadvantage: If you are toasting bread in successive batches, the preheating makes the oven shorten the toasting time. Sometimes you have to fiddle with the settings a little, but this is a very minor inconvenience.

I bought this product.... and yes it does many of the right things.... but there are so many wrong things about this particular item. I have ruined many a dinner.... because the rack inside is not secure and it falls out easily. Thanks a lot you miserable fricking designers for this wonderful feature. Just tonight.... trying my best to get dinner on the table was disappointed by the flaw that sent all of the asparagus to the floor. Lovely... why don't we have the designers of this oven come and mop my floor now. Anyway... whatever....... It's mine now... and it will live it's life out with me gingerly going about making dinner. I like this toaster/oven very much. Toast is better than my last B&D machine, and the broiler function works very well. However, my first toaster arrived with a smashed plastic base where the handle mounts on the door. The seller, Abe's of Maine, replaced the machine. The second machine did not have enough glue to hold the handle on the door. I re-glued it, and all is fine now. But, both of my samples had quality problems. One was reparable, one was not. This toaster does not turn itself off when the door is open, nor does the inside rack pull itself out when the door is open. These are two shortcomings, IMO. The controls are easy to understand and use. Overall, I'm happy with this machine.

It does a nice job toasting. For broiling, I find it takes longer than my old toaster oven, esp. when using frozen food, and doesn't brown too well.

I also find it odd that one is supposed to keep the oven open when broiling. It seems awfully wasteful. I haven't used it for baking.

Have to say Amazon has some very savvy shoppers, who in my opinion are out there to help all of us.

Had a Delongi toaster oven that was very inexpensive, Around $25.00 and lasted two years ....... I got my monies worth. Read many reviews on Amazon and Eopinions and I was not sure about purchasing this item. Anyway I did. It looks beautiful very industrial and will fit in any contemporary kitchen.

So we bought the product, a very shallow pan dish is provided. We used it once and when washed the pan rusted. Have to agree with other reviewers the toaster feature is not great, and although the directions for the heat temp was clear , the dial is very small and we truly we were unable to gage the color of toast we wanted, .......... many burnt pieces.

The convection feature on this oven ...... forget it. We did a baked potato at 375 degrees on regular cooking and it took 1 hour and 5 minutes. On a later date did the same size potato ( approximately ) on the convection feature same it took 58 minutes. Chicken pieces did real well roasted at 375 degrees on the regular cooking feature.

I gave it a 3 star because of the way it looks and slower cooking temperatures appear to do well, the faster stuff ( convection feature ) not sold on . Am going to return this item and get the Breville as the cooking comments were great for this toaster ( except for not being able to use aluminum foil and glass). Will buy the Breville and then right another review on that product, and hopefully this will help all of you in making the best choice.

This is a fantastic oven. I highly recommend this oven for singles or couples. The supplied directions are brief, but will get you started easily. I have tried pizza, chicken, and casserole dishes, all turned out as expected. The frozen pizza I tried, was done, within the time listed on the box. Scratch pizzas turn out perfect. Anything I would put in a regular oven, I use this toaster oven. A lot less heat in Florida. The dials on my oven are not unreasonably stiff, as some claim. As for the timer, for those having trouble with it, use the Always ON function. With always ON, you now have a simple on and off switch. Once turned on, Just use the clock as a timer, the same as with most full size ovens. This oven is no more, no less, dangerous than any other heating device. As with any other oven, full sized,toaster,or even range tops, it is not a good idea to turn it on and not keep an eye on it, food burns all too easily. My only concern is, it isn't quite as high inside, as I would like. *NOTE* One word of Caution. Support the rack from underneith, if pulling the rack all the way out, to load or unload, with a full casserole dish. The oven will tilt forward and downward, allowing the dish to slid off the rack. It becomes top heavy. Enjoy, Have fun with this oven.

We don't have any of the problems mentioned, it must be a quality control issue. If the timer doesn't work or the temperature knob is lose one should take it back and exchange it. The top and sides get hot but not as hot as the huge Kenmore, or the Kenmore Elite we tried last, or even the Krups. We are not concerned with perfect toast but we use it daily for cooking purposes and it works well for that purpose.

The only major limitation is that the vertical space is limited -a common problem- and using the grill in the lowest position will burn the bottom Another minor criticism is that nice big non stick pan warped [edit: it's now flat again] On the plus side it doesn't take much counter space. I just wish the interior was 1 to 2 inches taller.

We've had this for a week, and it does the usual jobs quite well. Bread at room temperature toasts perfectly; bread out of the freezer toasts perfectly. Even bagels out of the freezer come out just slightly browned on top and warm all the way through. The convection option works well, and seems to even out the whole process. A good, reliable toaster oven.

This is a piece of garbage. Straight from the box, the temp control knob had so much play you couldn't tell whether you were setting 450F or 300F. No indicator for pre-heat. Cheaply built (Chinese garbage). The surface of the unit gets as hot as the inside. May as well use it as a grill-top. Not safe and worthless. Amazon forces me to use at least one star to write a review, but it doesn't deserve it.

I hate to be the I-told-you-so person in my family, but I didn't want to get a toaster oven. I like my counters clear and even the smallest toaster oven is a space hog, and this one isn't small. But my husband for some reason really wanted to get rid of our classic 2-slice toaster and get this oven so I relented. Although I miss my counter space, I actually came to appreciate being able to use our full size oven less, and I roasted a lot of vegetables and found it easy and convenient for that purpose. BUT, we've had it about 2 years and now I've just noticed that the interior black paint has peeled off, presumably falling into our food. I have 2 kids under 4 and I'm really upset about this. I spoke to customer service and after I described the problem and the fact that I was worried about harm to my kids, he asked, "Does the oven work?" What the! If that's the standard they are using, then this company stands for NOTHING. Also, annoying but not the end of the world is that the door of the oven, as sooooo many reviewers noted, does not shut. Slamming the door of the toaster oven every time you use it is annoying and wakes up my little ones (their bedroom is closest to the kitchen).

I have had this toaster oven for years and always thought it was great! It is very sharp looking and toasts well. I just realized now that I barely ever used it until the past year. Over the 10 months, my fiance and I have actually put it to good use. The door stopped closing all the way most of the time about a month ago. It is extremely frustrating. The door handle is actually now broken from a recent struggle to close it. I was planning on replacing it with the same exact one thinking that it was from years of use that we were having this problem and my fiance resisted calling it a piece of junk. I decided to check out the reviews and was actually surprised to see the majority of the negative reviews address the same exact thing. I thought I had the problem because I had it for years and then realized that I just started using it less than a year ago. I will not be buying the same one again.

I like to make toast and use the broiler. I've had this model for years now. The door hinge has always been an issue. You have to slam the door to get it to close. So much slamming on a weak plastic handle caused the handle to break. The outside gets pretty hot also. I would not recommend.

I have just started using a toaster oven, so I'm still getting the hang of incorporating it into my everyday life. This little appliance works great! It is easy to use and doesn't take up much counter space.

I don't use it nor intend to use it for toasting bread (I have a regular toaster for that). I purchased a toaster oven so that I could still do oven cooking without heating up the entire kitchen in summertime. Where I live it is nothing for summer temperatures to exceed 100 degrees plus and this is just what I needed to accomplish the small oven tasks. The convection is a nice feature also. I have not used the broiler setting, but so far this great little appliance does everything I had hoped for!

When cooking is done, I find the alarm is loud enough. Some things that I've seen people complain about are no light inside (like a regular oven) and when timer goes off the oven should turn off - these may be useful, and perhaps would be options on higher-end appliances, but I think this toaster oven works fine.

I do have to remember that the entire outside of the oven gets hot though - the cool white paint can be deceiving. I would recommend having enough space on your counter to give it ample ventilation for any cabinets above as well as on the sides.

I also purchased the drip tray liner also to help with clean up and everything so far is working fine.

Stop! Stop looking for a near perfect toaster oven. We, finally, found it. After five years of aggregation, we've found it.

To give you ideas of some of the wasted time, etc.: 1. We literally in a matter of a few weeks bought and returned two toaster ovens. Then we just settled for the least of the evils we found at Walmart. 2. It lasted about six months until it burned out and we returned it to the mfr. and received a new one. 3. The new toaster oven lasted about a year until one morning it popped and spit sparks. We actually had never really liked this unit because the controls were hard to read and the heating erratic. By the way, we had carried out a great deal of research both on Consumers Report's web site and the reviews on the Amazon web site before we ever bought the first toaster oven.

Well, one more time we researched toaster ovens and reluctantly decided we had to up grade to a more expensive model and so decided to give the Cusinart TOB 165 (This is the white version) a try. Oh, my gosh! It is wonderful! After four months we have not found anything wrong. It is a pleasure to use it at least three times a day. It is easy to operate and performs perfectly.

We've used this oven several times a day for several years. It saves a lot of use on our main oven and allowed us to eliminate the toaster in our kitchen. It's more a small, full service oven than just a typical toaster oven. As a toaster it's a bit slow but very effective with a lot of options.

It does have its flaws though. A small one is that the crumb tray pulls out from the back which means the oven must be moved. It would require a total re-design to correct that and it's more a nuisance than a defect. A bigger one is that the glass door is not removable and it's very difficult to keep clean in place. That would take a minor modification in design and should be corrected, so it could be cleaned in the sink. Another major one is the white metal and plastic exterior, which is impractical because of the continual exposure to high heat. The white, plastic control panel developed several cracks and partially peeled off after several months. Also the white enamel on the metal body deteriorated badly, also from the heat.

On the plus side, the stainless steel interior and broiler tray are well designed and easy to clean.

They have a newer, slightly larger model of the identical design and stainless steel exterior. We just replaced our old one with the newer model in the hope the exterior will hold up better. The larger size will fit a 12" pizza, which might be useful too.
